*sigh*

This baby is not properly buckled into this carseat. The chest clip should be at the level of the armpits.

Is it any wonder that people don't strap their children in properly? When it's demonstrated wrong in advertisements everywhere?

I did some searching for instructions or pictures or SOMETHING for this particular carseat just to make sure that I'm not totally wrong, since I've never owned a Graco, after all - I couldn't find any instructions for the Snugride, so I'm basing my proclamation on the instructions for every other carseat I ever HAVE seen the instructions for. If I'm wrong, let me know.

Actually Gracos are pretty weird like that. Ours could only go as high as right above the belly button. If you made it any higher then the baby would be really uncomfortable. The straps became way too tight.

We thought he may have been too big for the smallest setting and thought maybe we had to put the shoulder straps on the next higher slit. When we did that, they were just way too big. So yeah, that's a normal Graco carseat for ya.

That's just weird. So do the instructions say that the clip is SUPPOSED to be at the belly? Or is it supposed to be at the chest and it just doesn't fit that way?

I'm pretty sure it said it just rests around the belly. I mean he was our first so we were pretty fanatical about following every direction to the T. I would look it up but we threw out all that stuff long ago. I think as long as the straps aren't falling off the baby's shoulders then it can pretty much go anywhere on the torso. Isn't that the only reason it's there?

Well, then, I stand corrected. It's just so weird because EVERY other carseat I have ever seen is supposed to be clipped at armpit level. I mean if you think about it, if you're in a crash, wouldn't you rather have the clip digging into their hard, bony chest than their soft squishy stomach? Weird!

Yeah, I agree. I just happened to take pictures of Boomba in his carseat yesterday and noticed in his Britax that the clip was right at chest level.

I was at Target.com last night and saw a baby in another Graco and the clip was at chest level. Maybe it depends how tall the baby is or something. But, yeah, it's weird.

We had a Graco when she was an infant (also on Britax now) and the instructions say chest level:

"Position harness clip in middle of chest, level with armpits and away from the neck"

Just FYI...

Thank you for the link, Mama Luxe! I swear I scoured that whole site, I don't know how I missed it.
