hey! I found something else to be outraged about!

So it turns out that excess copper levels are linked to post-partum depression. Uhhhh...wouldn't this be a good piece of information to give to new mothers BEFORE you put a piece of copper in their uterus? I read the entire damn brochure and there was absolutely no mention of this.

Wow, that's good to know.

I would never use that one anyways. I'm allergic to copper. I can't wear jewelry with any copper or I break out in a rash within minutes. I couldn't imagine copper in my uterus.

I think that for most people, it wouldn't be an issue, but what the study found is that some people just have trouble clearing excess copper from their systems, and this might be the reason why some women get ppd and some don't. So I think that maybe, just maybe, they shouldn't give the copper iud to women who are already raising red flags on the standard ppd screening questionnaires. Adding extra copper to their systems isn't exactly going to help matters, kwim?
